Connolly's on the 'out indefinitely' list

Maybe I should rethink my "liking rough hockey" stance. I think Tim Connolly was one of the best players out there to watch and that concussion last year has indefinitely put him out of play for the Sabres.
They want salary cap space, so this move was important.
I'm sad not to see him play and I hope, but it seems more unlikely with every month off, that he will come back again and be just as exciting to watch.

That sucks! He must be so frustrated. His team is doing so well and he's not there to enjoy it.

makes you wonder if they'd be even greater with him.

That's the thing. I love Sundin best when he's giving some other guy grief, maybe taking a shot, giving a good face wash or just using his size to intimidate. how can i walk away from that?
It's just, every now and then, the rough stuff takes a great player out.

Think of it as "collateral damage"...acceptable losses in the loveable war that is hockey...heck nations should settle their differences on ice...

Re: Connolly's on the 'out indefinitely' list

Losing Connolly was a big blow to the Sabres last year for the playoffs, however if there is one thing that seperates the Sabres from the rest of the league it is depth at all lines. Matchup our lines with any team in the NHL. Maybe they have a 1st line whos better than ours, ok but I bet their second, third, and even 4th lines fail to even compare to the equality and talent that the Sabres have. The Sabres have spent a while building the organization to reach this point, it feels like any guy from Rochester can come up and fill a void because of our system.(Pominville, Gaustad, Paiche, Novotny etc) Connolly is a premier NHL talent and Im gonna miss seein him play again this year but the Sabres are strong enough(as they have so far displayed) to beat anyone in the NHL without him

Re: Connolly's on the 'out indefinitely' list

yeah, i have no doubt that Buffalo will not really feel the absence of connolly, except in a morale kind of way. they are good, from top to bottom and in net, all around.
