Bills to Toronto creates international anxiety

If the fans in Buffalo have concerns about the Bills or any other NFL team moving to Toronto, talk to Mark Cohon.
He is commissioner of the the Canadian Football League and said that having a NFL team in Toronto could be a death knell for his eight team league.

Re: Bills to Toronto creates international anxiety

I would love to see the Bills do a permanent move to Toronto.
For one, the New York area has lots of teams, and the attendance numbers show that they won’t be missed in Buffalo.
Most Canadians prefer the NFL to the CFL, and getting an NFL team won’t spell the end of the CFL, but only the end of the Argonauts (Ontario will still has the Hamilton Tiger Cats).
Toronto’s Blue Jays have already won 2 World Series, and we recently lost the Expos to Washington, so, this sounds like a fair trade.
The NFL is the only major sports franchise without a Canadian presence.
Also, an expansion team for Vancouver would also be nice (The Saints maybe?) so I don’t have to go down to Seattle and get soaking wet watching a game.
Eventually it will happen, after-all, our dollar is worth more than the US one.

The Bills are a great franchise who won four AFC Championships in a row, have plenty of Hall Of Famers and belong in Buffalo, nowhere else!

Right on. To bad they have never won the "big game" and they've had 4 chances to do it.

Re: Bills to Toronto creates international anxiety

The attendance is bad in Buffalo because the team is bad, when the Bills were riding high they sold out every game. You want fans in the stadium then spend money on the team (which they're doing with free agents) and have a wise draft. Once the Bills get on the winning track the fans will pack Rich Stadium. Fans aren't going to spend money on a 5-11 team no matter where you are.

Bills play Toronto on Dec. 7

Apr 15, 3:03 pm EDT

  • NEW YORK (AP)—The Buffalo Bills will play in Toronto on Dec. 7 against Miami as part of an effort to expand their market to Canada.

This marks the first time the Bills will play during the regular season in Toronto, about a 1 1/2 -hour drive from Buffalo. The game was one of the highlights of the NFL schedule released Tuesday

Re: Bills to Toronto creates international anxiety

The Toronto Bills? Just doesn't sound right. Plus technically New York will be left without an NFL team (the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey). My question is these games being played in Toronto by the Bills, are they an effort to woo the Bills to leave Buffalo or just for Toronto to snap up some team? Soon I predict NFL football will only be played in 4 star hotels in major cities!

If the Bills leave New York then the state of New York will have no NFL team as the Giants and Jets play in New Jersey. And how do you know they won't be missed in Buffalo? Have you read any Buffalo newspapers, websites or blogs written by residents of Buffalo and this was the general consensus? Don't get me wrong they will be the Toronto Bills someday but you're being quite arrogant and using your Canadian nationalistic pride lording the fact that Canadian money is worth more than the US dollar rather than logic make comments. Frankly I feel they border on offensive

Ok Dusty and West Coast, cease fire. Our countries are neighbors and at peace.
The fact is Buffalo doesnt want the Bills to leave. They would be missed.
Some team will probably go to Canada some day. The NFL is all for expansion. I'd rather see it go there than some other places not in the US. So if this happens, its not because the Canadian dollar is worth more, but rather because that's where the NFL wants to go.
And West Coast, there are fans here who will go to back their team no matter what the weather. They go to watch their team, not just watch a game. So unless the Canadians have the same attitude, the NFL wont survive in Canada.
And before all the Canadians jump on me, I know they do. Its just not the impression West Coast gave.

You never know, they could make the stadium indoor.
