| Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Bills TE Kevin Everett left the game earlier today in an ambulance. Peter King of SI broke the news that he is being treated at the hospital for a cervical spinal injury. Nothing more is known at the moment. Damn....of course we gotta hope it's nothing life threatening let alone career threatening. Spinal/head injuries are scary beasts. |

| Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Let's hope for the best. I was just reading an article in the Sunday Daily News about Tony Dungy and his efforts to teach kids to tackle properly, with their heads up to avoid things like this, not that I saw the play in question. Emergency surgery though for a cervical spine injury is not a good sign.

| Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Here's the latest from the Associated Press: "Buffalo Bills reserve tight end Kevin Everett had surgery Sunday after injuring his spine on a kickoff against the Denver Broncos, and there is concern about whether he will be able to walk again... 'He's had some sparse movement,' Everett's agent Brian Overstreet told The Associated Press in a phone interview late Sunday... 'The next couple of days is going to be critical,' said Overstreet, responding to a question about paralysis. 'Our concern is for him to come out of this healthy and, hopefully, be able to walk again.'" That doesn't sound promising. Hopefully the kid responds well and is able to walk again. | Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Bills TE Everett could be left paralyzed Bills reserve tight end Kevin Everett will be sedated for a day or two as doctors evaluate the extent of a severe spinal injury that could leave him paralyzed. "He'll be sedated for the next 24 to 48 hours and we won't know more until then," Armstead said. "We were told by the doctors that the surgery went well." Everett's family members, including mother Patricia Dugas, were to arrive in Buffalo today from their Houston home, Armstead said. Overstreet told the AP late Sunday that his 25-year-old client had some "sparse movement." "The next couple of days are going to be critical," said Overstreet, responding to a question about paralysis. "Our concern is for him to come out of this healthy and, hopefully, be able to walk again." | Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Indeed this is the worst part of the sport and if you think about it, it can pretty much happen on any given play. These football players literally put their lives on the line for football and sometimes something like this happens and it's just shocking and a nightmare. |

| Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury Well...with modern medicine, who knows if one day they could possibly find a way to combat such paralysis. Nevertheless, when this happens in any sport it's such a shock (it shouldn't be I guess) and just terrible thing. |

| Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury ![]() Miracles are possible, and Everett took his first step toward what seemed almost impossible just yesterday. According to a report by WIVB-TV in Buffalo, the former Miami Hurricane has shown voluntary movement in both his arms and legs.Due to the surprisingly fast progress, Dr. Andrew Cappuccino has changed his stance a bit, and believes there is much more reason to be optimistic at this point. While a full recovery is still not guaranteed, the future appears to be much brighter for Everett.
