Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury

I am curious if ESPN still ran their "Jacked Up' segment, where they show guys getting clobbered, in view of the seriousness of this injury. It would now probably be appropriate to rethink that spot.

Not only that but in light of all the talk about how concussions can effect a player's life after football. I don't think it would be sincere to do that segment.

Cool Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury

Good to hear. Hope he can walk like Dennnis Byrd of the Jets did.

Too bad the Patriots spying situation is taking away from this story because by rights this should be what is on football fans minds right now. That this man regains mobility and is ok.

I never liked it anyway to tell you the truth and I agree that now they shouldn't air it.

Re: Bills Kevin Everett Spinal Injury

I doubt ESPN or any other network will stop running the violent collisions - that is the essence of football - it is a contact sport. The problem as I see it - players are getting bigger, faster and meaner.

Something will probably be done to lessen the possibilitiy of life threatning injuries but I am clueless as to what it might be.

Kickoffs seem to have the highest number of injuries so that may be an area the NFL looks at first. It still won't stop the big hits put on the WR's and RB's going over the middle.

That was a vicious looking hit! Good news to hear that he could recover.

Doctors are now saying he could be walking within the next couple of weeks.

"Soon ... they're going to stand him up," Dr. Barth Green told The Associated Press, shortly after discussing Everett's condition with Bills orthopedic surgeon Dr. Andrew Cappuccino. "They're very confident he'll be walking very soon ... in the next days or weeks, not months."

That's awesome. There are a lot of people praying for him. You never want to see a player, no matter how much you dislike a team or player, go down the way he did. The day he walks back onto Ralph Wilson Stadium will be so emotional. I can't wait to see it on TV.

Much of the success can be atributed to research done by The Miami Project. The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis | Nick Buoniconti

Odly enough the NFL used to give financial support to the organization only to have recently stopped. I wonder if this incident will give them reason to rethink their support?
