Post Bills WR Roscoe Parrish

There was a running joke in the Buffalo Bills media room during April’s NFL Draft. It centered on the Miami Dolphins’ selection of Ohio State receiver Ted Ginn Jr. with the ninth overall pick.

“The Dolphins just drafted Roscoe Parrish,” the joke went.

Whether that’s an insult to Ginn or a complement to Parrish, the Buffalo Bills third-year receiver, remains to be seen. But one thing is clear, Parrish doesn’t care for the comparison.

“I don’t compare myself to anyone at all. I’ve been in this league longer than him (Ginn),” he said.

Unfortunately for Parrish, as long as he and Ginn are battling each other in the AFC East, the comparisons will continue. Both receivers are small by NFL standards, with Parrish listed at 5-foot-9, 171 pounds and Ginn at 5-foot-11, 178 pounds. Both players also excel on punt returns.

Parrish, though, would like to be thought of more as a wide receiver. With a full year of offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild’s system under his belt, Parrish is confident that will happen in 2007.

Well, only time will tell is Parrish can make good on his desire to be more of a pure wideout. But at 5-foot-9, 171 pounds, the deck's stacked against him.

Re: Bills WR Roscoe Parrish

It's a fair take on the two...fab return man potential...questionable (because of size) receiver potential....

The funny thing is, Ginn's a little bigger and a little faster than Parrish, so he probably has a better shot of being a decent wideout.

Slightly bigger...still has trouble getting of the line when jammed...and doesn't use his arms well enough to get it done...on quick slants or if he shakes lose he can kill ya...still not worth #9 or 10 overall

Oh, I agree completely. I was just speaking relatively. If I were forced to pick which of these two had better odds at becoming a quality wideout, I'd pick Ginn hands down because his size is a little better and he's faster. But even so, those odds would not be very good.

Yep Ginn over Parrish any day...who knows he can be a great little guy like Mel Gray...that guy use to kill the Cowboys...I hated when we played him...
