| UFC adds 3 fights to UFC 89 ![]() On Tuesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the addition of three more fights to the upcoming card set to take place on October 19 in Birmingham, England. The fights added include a light heavyweight clash between Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Brazilian fighter Luis Cane, Dan Hardy against Akihiro Gono at 170 pounds, and a battle between heavyweights Shane Carwin and Neil Wain. Since leaving Pride in 2007, judo superstar Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou has continued to work his way towards the top of the 205-pound weight class. His mission was derailed slightly when he was defeated in his Octagon debut by Lyoto Machida, but he quickly rebounded with an impressive win over Kazuhiro Nakamura at UFC 84. Now Sokoudjou faces Luis Cane, who lost by disqualification in his inaugural appearance for the UFC, but also came back strong defeating Jason Lambert in devastating fashion at UFC 85 in June. Highly touted British prospect Dan Hardy will make his first appearance inside the Octagon at UFC 89 taking on Japanese fighter Akihiro Gono, in what is expected to be a very exciting fight between two welterweight contenders. - THREE MORE FIGHTS ANNOUNCED FOR UFC 89 - MMA WEEKLY - Mixed Martial Arts & UFC News, Photos, Rankings & more
