Re: Affliction: "Banned" Picks

Fedor was great, 36 second rear naked choke on Sylvia to re-establish himself as the world's best at Heavyweight.

Other than that nothing really special knockouts for both Barnett and Arlovski

I think with the fighters they have if they went with regular TV, HDNet, Spike, Showtime, etc. They could have, but going with a PPV was the kiss of death, because Affliction doesn't have the three letters that sells PPVs, U.F.C. Plus they have a lot of big name fighters and I don't know exact numbers but I doubt they got anything of 50,000 PPV buys which probably barely pays their fighters because of the huge contracts. But they say they have the cash for at least two more shows (one in October or November and one in January)

So fighter wise, yeah I bet they could, but money, I don't they will be able to keep putting on shows like Saturday's if they keep the same PPV plan. So I don't know yet

So do I, I like having a good card every weekend, but everyone knows who is the best. The UFC, with WEC close behind. The UFC has the world's best at 205, 185, 170 without a doubt, they probably they have the best at 155 too unless anyone wants make a case for some of the guys out at Dream. Or than Fedor at Heavyweight the UFC is hands down the best,

I would like one place, but there is only organization out there that is elite and that is the UFC.

At least in boxing, though, it is possible for people to fight in multiple organizations, hold multiple titles. Ultimate fighting has the worst of both worlds... multiple champions with a WWF-like disgregard of competitors and forced exclusivity. That's what I think I'd like to see change.

Some guys do fight in multiple organizations, just not UFC guys, because the UFC makes guys sign exclusive contracts, but like Nick Diaz he will fight for the EliteXC Lightweight title probably in October and the Dream Welterweight title in September.

The UFC guys are the only guys who sign exclusive contracts, even Fedor who fought on this Affliction card, wants another Affliction in October, than a fight with I don't know who it is in Florida in November than one more at Yaknorra on New Year's Eve.

So it can happen.

Okay, sorry... guess that kind of betrays my ignorance of the sport. I didn't realize the UFC were the only one who used exclusive deals.

Well, I guess UFC isn't the only ones, but they are the only who signs everyone of their fighters to do exclusive deals, I know Kimbo's Pro Elite deal is exclusive. But UFC is the only one where every last fight has exculsive deals.

Dana White doesnt protect his champions, he gets the best fighters to fight the best fighters, so if the UFC has the best fighters, then you know who the best is. In boxing, theres like 10 belts in each weight class who really knows whose the best is.

There is only one divison that the UFC offers that doesnt have a champion who cant be considered one of the best in an argument, and thats the heavyweight, silva st piere BJ penn and will see with forrest but we can make the argument there all the best in the world in there divison, and i can only make the case for forrest cause all the best LH in the world really are in UFC IMO

Yep, but Nogueira vs. Frank Mir? That is an ok regular heavyweight bout but for the title? Not in my life. Affliction's card with all the great heavyweights was great, hey even Adrenaline has better heavyweights than the UFC.

The only bright spots for the UFC in the heavyweight division is future stars Shane Corwin, Brock Lesnar, and Cain Velasquez
