UFC Fight Night 13: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Luazon

Next Wednesday the UFC will make its debut in Colorado, for UFC Fight Night 13: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Luazon, Live and Free on Spike.

The Main Event is a lightweight bout between Kenny "KenFlo" Florian (9-3-0) and Joe "J-Lua" Lauzon (15-3-0). The winner will likely get a title shot against the winner of the B.J. Penn-Sean Sherk fight in May. Florian is coming off a victory over Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night 11. Lauzon is coming off a win over Jason Reinhardt at UFC 78. Both guys have great ground games. Florian is Brazilian Jiu-Jistu Black belt. Lauzon is submission specialist. On the ground this will be one hell of a fight. I like Florian via submission in Round 3.

Then in a Welterweight Bout Thiago "Pit Bull" Alves (18-4-0) faces off with Karo "Heat" Parisyan (25-4-0). Alves is coming off a win over Chris Lytle at UFC 78. Parisyan is coming a win over Ryo Chonan at UFC 78. Alves is a great striker with very good jiu-jistu, similar to Carlos Condit or Miguel Torres in the WEC. Parisyan is a great grappler, and can throw anyone around the octagon. I think this will be a great fight but I'll take Thiago Alves via Submission in Round 1.

Then in a Light Heavyweight Bout, Matt "The Hammer" Hamill (5-1-0) faces off with Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch (7-1-0). Hamill is coming off a controversial spilt decsion lost to Michael Bisping at UFC 75, most people thought Hamill won the fight. Boetsch is coming off a win over David Heath at UFC 81. Hamill has great boxing and wrestling skills. Boetsch is a great wrestler. I think if Hamill keeps the fight standing up he can will dominate, but if it hits the ground it'll be an even match. I'll take Matt Hamill via TKO in Round 2.

Then in another Light Heavyweight bout Houston "The Assassin" Alexander (8-1-0) faces off with James "The Sandman" Irvin (13-4-1). Alexander is coming off the first lost of his career to Thiago Silva at UFC 78. Irvin is coming off a win over Luiz Cane at UFC 79. Both of these guys pack a powerful punch and will be going for the Knockout blow. I'll take Houston Alexander via KO or TKO in Round 1.

Here is the Full Card:

Main Card
Kenny Florian Vs. Joe Lauzon
Thiago Alves Vs. Karo Parisyan
Matt Hamill Vs. Tim Boetsch
Kurt Pellegrino Vs. Nate Diaz
James Irvin Vs. Houston Alexander

Preliminary Card
Gray Maynard Vs. Frank Edgar
Josh Neer Vs. Din Thomas
Ryan Roberts Vs. Marcus Aurelio
Jeff Cox Vs. Manny Gamburyan
Samy Schiavo Vs. Clay Guida
Roman Mitichyan Vs. George Sotiropoulos
Anthony Johnson Vs. Tommy Speer

UFC Fight Night 13 will be a lead to the debut of the Ultimate Fight 7: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest. UFC Fight is begins at 7 PM Eastern Live and Free on Spike. The Ultimate Fight 7 debuts after Fight Night at 10 PM Eastern on Spike.

Re: UFC Fight Night 13: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Luazon

A pretty good TV card for tomorrow night. For the main event, I'm going with Florian via TKO in the 2nd round. I know Thomas was injured in their fight but Florian looked great.

Houston Alexander needs a big win and hopefully Hammil can win and someday we can get a Hammil/Bisping rematch.

Re: UFC Fight Night 13: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon

Okay here are the results so far

James Irvin tied, the UFC quickest knock out record when he got a TKO over Houston Alexander 8 seconds into the first round. Houston thought it was premature.

Nate Diaz was dominated by Kurt Pellegrino in Round 1, but managed to get him to tap in Round 2. Nate Diaz wins via submission (triangle choke).

Matt Hammil beat Tim Boetsch via TKO in Round 2.

Thiago Alves defeated Karo Parisyan via TKO in Round 2, Karo thought it was premature. The ref, Steve Mazzagatti was the same ref that called the Alexander-Irvin fight quickly as well.

Then Anthony Johnson knocked Tommy Speer to another planet winning via KO in Round 1.

Then Gary Maynard just scored a unanimous decsion victory over Frankie Edgar.

The main event is next.

Great Main Event, Kenny Florian defeats Joe Lauzon via TKO in Round 2, but a hell of a fight.

Now, Florian will likely get a title shot against either B.J. Penn or Sean Sherk who are fight at UFC 84 in May.

Re: UFC Fight Night 13: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Luazon

That Alexander knockout wasn't explosive but it sure was fast, lol. No question, it was a correct stoppage. Alexander was not defending himself.

The Nate Diaz submission win was great. He was nearly about to lose in the first round but he survived. He came back in the second and was able to cinch in a submission and knew it was over.

Lauzon looked great in a loss (if that's possible, lol) but Florian is on such a roll right now.
