Georgia's former Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker essentially challenged the 62-year-old South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier to a fight. "How much guts do you have?" Walker said. "Step in a ring with me, and then we'll see." When informed Wednesday morning of the comments, Spurrier bristled. "No, I haven't seen it. One way or another, it doesn't bother me, faze me or have one thing to do with me," Spurrier said. "I don't even know why you're asking me. ... I have no comment one way or another about that. How's that?" After the team's practice Wednesday, he was a little more jovial about Walker. He was asked by a reporter if he had boxing gloves. And if he thought he could take Walker, 45.
