CFFC 6: Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott

Caged Fury Fighting Championships 6 takes place next Friday night at The Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The show will be headlined by an interesting match-up of pure brawlers. Former street brawling sensation Kimbo Slice will fight former UFC fighter Tank Abbott. Slice made his MMA debut last June when he (ironically) submitted Ray Mercer (the former pro boxer). Abbott hasn't had many wins as of late and he'll look to to put on a show. This should definitely be a fun fight.

Other fights on the card include:

Ricardo Almeida vs. Dennis Hallman
Marcio Cruz vs. John Marsh
Derek Panza vs. Duke Roufus
Jim Miller vs. Chris Brennan (NABC Lightweight Title)
Brian Geraghty vs. Chris Ligouri
Eric Henry vs. Gregor Gracie
Jose Rodriguez vs. Mike Littlefield
Warren Kekebah vs. Nick Catone
Randy Durant vs. Tom Poe

MMA Analyst has a short preview of the show. Also check out Unlimited Fight News for a look at some of the under card fights.

Re: CFFC 6: Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott

According to MMAJunkie CFFC 6 has been cancelled by the promoters. The reason is said to be due to an investor pulling out recently.

As MMAJunkie points out, don't be surprised if you see a Slice vs. Abbott fight pop up in another organization looking for a headlining match-up.

Holy cow, Abbott's still fighting? Wasn't he one of the originals, alongside guys like Shamrock?

Re: CFFC 6: Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott

You got it. He's 42-years old and still chugging along. He started in the UFC in 1995 and was known for his knockouts (although his record was anything but good).

From 99-2001 he went into pro wrestling (WCW). He returned to the UFC in 2003 but lost his three fights and hasn't returned since.

His last fight as in April at a Cage Rage show. He lost via TKO.

Re: CFFC 6: Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott

Abbott isn't half the complete fighter Couture is though.

Dave Meltzer
is reporting the fight may still happen elsewhere. He writes, "Three different promotions have put in bids to save the freak show like fight. According to sources close to the negotiations, one group, which wasn't named, seems to have a leg up on securing the fight within the next two weeks. Slice has already verbally agreed and it's up to Abbott to agree.

The Palace Fighting Championships and Elite XC are the two other groups negotiating for the fight. PFC has a show on 10/18 in Lemoore, CA, while Elite XC has its next major Showtime event scheduled for 11/10."
