Sean Sherk Files for Drug Hearing Extension

Today, UFC lightweight champion was scheduled to have a hearing with the California State Athletic Commission. He was expected to defend himself after failing a drug test prior to his fight last month at UFC 73. Instead, Sherk filed for an extension into October.

He has maintained his innocence throughout and is working with his lawyers to figure out how his test came back with elevated levels of nandrolone.

According to a Sherdog report, if Sherk gets his one-year suspension lifted, he'll fight B.J. Penn in November.
Quote:
"I don't want this to take any longer than it has to, but I hired my lawyer just a couple of weeks ago," said Sherk. "I want to get this done as soon as possible so I can fight B.J. [Penn] in November, but the next hearing wouldn't be until October."
