UFC's Sherk fighting steroid test

Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder Sean Sherk has filed an appeal over a positive test for steroids following his bout this month at UFC 73. According to the California State Athletic Commission, Sherk and his opponent in the UFC 73 title fight, Hermes Franca, tested positive for banned substances. The commission has suspended the mixed martial artists for a year with $2,500 fines for each. -- Houston Chronicle

Re: UFC's Sherk fighting steroid test

Sherk released a short statement yesterday, "At the present time I cannot explain the positive drug test in Sacramento California. I know I have never used any steroids or any other banned substances, I am investigating possible causes of my positive test with my attorney. I have never cheated, all of my success has come from hard work and dedication to my sport."

For his sake, if he's telling the truth, he better have some proof. Or else, he'll be suspended and won't be able to fight for a year.

Re: UFC's Sherk fighting steroid test

That's not the UFC's rules...that would be the suspension from the California State Athletic Commission.
