Reports coming out today have the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission agreeing to lift the ban on mixed martial arts events in the state. According to
MMAWeekly, an electronic petition containing nearly 1,000 electronic signatures was given to the Commission along with private lobbying from various groups. The PSAC will discuss and write regulations but they should be the same as ones followed and enforced by various State Athletic Commissions around the nation.
This is another barrier broken down in the past year by the MMA community and most of all, by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Over the next few months they will have events in England (their second ever), Ohio (for the first time) and Texas (first time).
MMA is still trying to get the ban lifted in states such as New York, California, Arizona among other states.
