Otiz breaks slump

The slump of David Ortiz had become the problem of the Red Sox, the issue hovering over his teammates, the clubhouse, everything. Terry Francona started grimacing at each mounting question about his designated hitter. Before last night's game, Kevin Youkilis told reporters to leave Ortiz alone. "Maybe talk about the weather or something," he said.

When Ortiz exhaled last night in an 8-3 victory, the Red Sox exhaled with him. His first home run of the season sparked a historic, homer-happy fifth inning before 38,099 at Fenway Park and served as the lodestone to Boston's whipping of the first-place Toronto Blue Jays, humbled twice in two nights and one loss from being swept to within an inch of second place.

Re: Otiz breaks slump

Who here thinks that Ortiz's slump is steroid testing related???

I mean, the man has fallen off a cliff hitting wise lately...why?

Oh please, people who are 6-4 and pushing 245 to 250 and hit 54 homers just a few years back don't suddenly hit .211 with 1 homer in 37 games...
A slump will drop your average etc, but this giant of a man suddenly can't clear a fence or two??? I think he was a juicer.

There you go. It was a few years back. Man is getting older. Maybe Mr. Goliath needs to take off a pound or two. Maybe he needs glasses.
It happens.
Besides, if I played for the Red Sox, I would go in a slump too.

Re: Otiz breaks slump

Every player on the Cubs is in a slump, batting 220, will hit the ball hard right to people getting homer every once in a while. That is a slump (or they are just bad I've haven't decided yet)

Papi is painful to watch, a week ago Nick Swisher's ERA was the same as Papi's amount of homers. He either just go really bad or he stopped taking something and his career path looks like that of a steriod user. Even though I don't care that he was, but it sure looks like he was

Yep, it kinda looks like and walks an awful lot like a duck...a lame steroid-less duck at that... I say he was a juicier...
