| Re: Papi Does It Again Anybody who thought that wasn't going to happen hasn't been paying attention. If he faced that kid 100 times, he would homer off of him 99 and the other hit would be a double. I knew if the order got back around to him the Indians would lose. If this is their closer of the future, who had just given up 4 runs the game before, then Eric Wedge should hang himself now.

Re: Papi Does It Again Hes a big guy who stands there and swings for the moon with every swing. Big deal! Its true that he seems to hit those homers in clutch situation but a true MVP has to do something besides sit on the bench take 4 or 5 at bats and swing upwards with all your might being assured of the easiest pitches to hit because hes got Ramirez behind him. Alan Trammell was a true clutch performer and a REAL player not a pathetic DH like "big papi." Yeah he works up a real sweat sitting his big carcass on that seat for 3 hours!

Re: Papi Does It Again Trashed, I am a Yankees fan and despise Boston, but even I cannot argue against him this year. I can't stand Ortiz, cannot believe he, or Manny for that matter, has never been linked to steroids, but I have never seen a guy get this many big hits since Thurman Munson. The absolute funniest thing I have seen lately though is when they list his weight at 235. I weigh 235, and if I got on a seesaw with Ortiz, I know I would be stuck up in the air for a very long time.

Re: Papi Does It Again I am a diehard yankee fan, and you learn to hate anyone who wears the red sox uniform when your growing up, But Ortiz makes it so easy to root to see him do well. It just seems he comes up in the bottom of the ninth all the time lol. This was one guy that the boss wanted but the crew in fl said he shouldnt get, for once i wish we had listend to him

Yes he did. He just seems to be unstoppable! I mean realistically, I always keep telling myself he can't do it again, come on! Yet he always come through in thoses situations. Say what you want about him for bring a DH, Ortiz is a team palyer as well as all round and at has my vite for MVP, and that is the speculation across ESPN, and the nation in general.

Re: Papi Does It Again Welcome to the GoTeamsGo Fan Forum, desi. I hope to continue listening to your feelings and perspectives on the players and the latest news in baseball. If you have any questions, concerns, or anything in general, feel free to send me a private-message. By the way, you might as well save your thoughts about David Ortiz for the end of the season. We should get some heated conversations when it is Trophy time! How do you think the Twins feel for letting Ortiz walk away after the 2002 season? According to Wiki.Com, 9 of Ortiz's 18 game winning hits have been homeruns.

Re: Papi Does It Again Talk aboout an awful move by The Twins, putting Ortiz on waivers and letting him go for FREE! That is almost as bad as trading Francisco Liriano and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski.
| |||
Re: Papi Does It Again I think that decision will haunt the Twins' organization for the rest of Ortiz's splendid career. But who would have thought that a 230 pound first-baseman would turn out to be the MLB's Next BIG thing. As you can see, I stress the word "big".

Re: Papi Does It Again Yes, that is true, it was not a bad decision for the twins at the time. I think that getting Ortiz off the field defensively, especially on the turf in Minnesota and just letting him hit was one of the best things that ever happened for his career. Working with Ron Jackson really helped him flourish too. Jackson has had a very important influence in terms of getting very good performances out of hitters or helping them to regain their previous form. i.e. Mike Lowell, Bill Mueller, Kevin Millar and of course Big Papi.
