| Bay is Manny minus the soap opera BOSTON — It has been only five weeks since the second biggest Red Sox trade of the new century — Nomar Garciaparra's exodus will always be No. 1 — but it might as well be five years. Where's the outrage? Where's the disappointment? Where's the Manny-can-do-no-wrong Nation? It is nowhere to be found. Red Sox left fielder Jason Bay quietly has done the unthinkable ... made us forget about Manny Ramirez. Better yet, he has made us wonder why everyone — including the fans, media, Terry Francona, teammates and the entire Red Sox organization — let Manny get away with making a mockery of team sports for so long. Since the anxiety-filled trading deadline day, Bay's numbers are every bit as good as Manny's, which is probably a shock being that we've seen practically every hit Manny has had on ESPN's "SportsCenter." After yesterday's win, Bay's Red Sox are 21-9 compared to Manny's Dodgers, who were 15-16 heading into last night's game with San Diego. | Re: Bay is Manny minus the soap opera I agree with everything except Nomar's trade being bigger than Manny's. And Nomar, it seems, is a good candidate to have been on the juice, judging from his recent numbers compared to his previous. |

| Re: Bay is Manny minus the soap opera Nomar was junk when they got rid of him and that has been a few years now. Fans were very PO'd because he had set himself up to be a fan favorite and they just didn't want to see him go, even if the club would be better off without him. |

As for Bay, people in Boston are just now learning what we Pirates fans knew all along. He's a very talented player who, with a lineup around him, has the potential to do a lot of damage. I'm glad to see him doing so well with the Sox, and part of me's really rooting for them to win it all this year. I'd like to see Bay get his ring.
