It's official ....... Manny Ramirez has been traded to the LA Dodgers as part of a 3 team trade

as part of the trade the Red Sox get Jason Bay from the Pirates

This was a great deal for the Dodgers and a huge loss for the Red Sox. It appeared that Ramirez was very unhappy with the Red Sox organization and a deal had to be done because he was a free agent at season's end.

If you recall Nomar being dealt away from Boston was going to be a big loss. I'm not sure Boston will suffer all that much from his (Manny) loss. Time will tell. We may lose some home run production but the mood in the locker room should be better. Ya think Youk is happy about it ??

What Manny did was far worse in my opinion than anything Bonds ever did. He tanked games and faked injuries to get out of Boston so he could get a multi-year deal next year. He should be suspended for the rest of the season.If the Red Sox and Dodgers meet in the Series,here's hoping Beckett plunks one off of his skull.

Wow. This really may not affect Boston that much. I'm just suprised they would trade him. They pretty much had a roster to repeat.

He's gone now !!! I still believe that it is not a bad move for the overall health of the team. Jason Bay may not be the HR hitter that Manny is but I think he will prove to be fruitful for them in many ways.

I think this may be a good move. Take a look at Bay's stats. They are pretty good, and he did it in a Pittsburgh lineup that offered him no protection. I am looking forward to see how he hits with Ortiz in the same lineup

Sadly when you have a player who can crank out 45 HR's sometimes you have to pander to that player whether you like it or not. I think Boston was looking at their future. Do you really want to spend $100 Million over the next 5 years on a guy who is moody, plays when HE wants and is very close to being 40 and older ???

They helped to create him by pooh-poohing his previous behavior. I hope that this little plan of his costs him first ballot inclusion into the Hall of Fame.

But the upside is that he wanted to play in the post season. For all his faults, he was a clutch as can be.

I don't see any downside to getting into the HOF. His numbers should take care of that. He doesn't have any apparent steroid problem, doesn't do dog fights and hasn't killed anyone ..... yet. Looks like a shoe in to me.

I agree. They lose some power, but Bay has a great attitude and a better fielder than Manny, and he's not a terrible hitter.
