BOSTON -
Manny Ramirez has the
Red Sox between Iraq and a hard place.
Ramirez told
ESPN Deportes yesterday that he wants to be traded and doesn't care to which team.
Said Ramirez, "I can even play in Iraq if need be."
That deal is highly unlikely, as is any other involving Ramirez between now and Thursday's non-waivers trade deadline. Ramirez, who has a full no-trade clause, admitted as much in a separate interview in the Boston clubhouse before last night's game.
"If the Red Sox think they can find a trade that's going to make the team better and both sides are going to be happy, then I'm going to agree," he said. "But they cannot find a trade ... when it comes to making a deal, they're not going to pull the trigger, because they know what they've got here. I'm happy. But enough is enough.
