The Sox are the far superior team with a farm system rich with enough talent to make them a dynasty. The Yankees are cranky a bunch of has beens and Melky Cabrerra. I am a Yankees fan but even I can see the the Yanks fear the Sox like a Turkey fears Thanksgiving. So being in first place shouldnt surprise you simon but its early so try not to enjoy it so much now as you can enjoy it when you clinch the division in September and quite possibly another World Series Victory.

You are discounting many of the Yankees top prospects like- Reese, Duncan, Prieto, Thompson, Escalona, Vechionacci, Pena, Howard, Santos, Guillen, and Rolls. If Sheff comes back soon ( and Matsui returns later this season) the Yanks will be poised to take the AL East title and go to the playoffs.

Re: Back In 1st Where We Belong

Do any of you guys think the Blue Jays have a chance to stay in this race? If so why? if not why? I'm just curious of your thoughts.

The Blue Jays absolutely have a chance. The have a very good team. Good starting pitching, good bullpen and a good offensive team.....Alex Rios is having a monster year....I'd be surprised if they didn't stay in the race.

It would be nice to see a three team race for a change.

Re: Back In 1st Where We Belong

You guys have already given up hope on the Devil Rays? Haha, I'm just joking here.

Don't forget to mention the Blue Jays' centerfielder, Vernon Wells. He is also have a "monster" year with 10 HRs and 32 RBIs. In addition, he has batted .444 with a homer in his last nine at-bats. Those are excellent numbers for a player who averages 27 homers and 104 RBIs if here were to participate in 162 games.

It will definitely be interesting to see the final standings of the AL East.

Ah Pundit we finally agree! Yes the Blue Jays have solid pitching and the pen is very good. The Jays offensive lineup can go with the best of any team in baseball. Vernon Wells is another monster indeed! A few weeks ago I was in attendance as he crushed one into the bleachers. They have a future but more important...theyre contenders now. In fact people talk about the Yankees and the Red Sox but dont be surprised of the Blue Jays sneak away with the AL East this year!

If they have those top prospects lets have see them now while they could benefit from Jeter's leadership, A-Rods production and the only thing old baseball players are good for...teaching . You know they arent going anywhere this year. The way they fear the the Red Sox is enough to make me burn my #2 jersey and the far younger and better Blue Jays are coming up from behind. Lets be realistic and rebuild. This team will not be the 2006 World Champions and everyone across the country knows it.

Re: Back In 1st Where We Belong

Why burn a Jeter shirt??? He's played well against the Sox this year and throughout his whole career!! If anything, burn #13 and #41 jerseys...
