Re: Jim Rice STILL Isn't in Hall of Fame

I think Rice will get in eventually, but I have always been on the fence with McGwire. He did hit a lot of HRs, but his average always suffered. He was not the greatest fielder, and not a consistent RBI guy. I can see why people are not letting him in.

What's more tragic than Big Mac not getting in...is people and writer who are denying him the slot in the Hall without ever proving him guilty of anything...that my friend is TRAGIC....in captials...
Again with that? Once again, Gotham. I've seen enough proof. This is not a court of law. Please, get out of your state of denial on this.

Dude, if you, in a self-righteous moment want to deny Big Mac the Hall because of 'assumptions" you want to make...more power to you...you would make a perfect sports writer my friend...

to me mob mentality, is mob mentality...and to me, the court of public opinion ain't worth squat when it runs on speculaton and rumors...a bit hard to say, "gee, I am sorry we got it wrong" once you go burn the suspected witch, don't you think???...

Guess you never did move beyond that "Great Abyss" you were sitting by, pondering the merits of the great Barry Bonds...talk about a state of denial..."hello kettle...yes,yes, this is the pot...just wanted to tell you, you seem awfully black today."...

Re: Jim Rice STILL Isn't in Hall of Fame

Hall of Famers Harmon Killebrew, Willie McCovey, Ernie Banks, Ralph Kiner, and Eddie Matthews all had similar high power- not a great batting average numbers like McGwire's. There is no way anybody can justify not voting him in solely on his stats and accomplishments.

...or what he meant to the game at one point in time.

Couldn't agree more. How quickly people forget that he was intrumental in bringing fans back to the game.

Re: Jim Rice STILL Isn't in Hall of Fame

I'm so glad to be back! Jim Rice has been cheated. He deserves to be there & I pray he will be there next year. I really think he is being blackballed because of the way he felt about the media. Even though he is the media now. Mac probably should be there, especially if Bonds is there. This is a good time to bring this up, even though it is old news, but what about Pete Rose? His accomplishments on the field never will be acknowledged for something he did after he played.
Back to Jimbo, Why wasn't his number ever retired at Fenway? He is just getting screwed everywhere. He was a good, consistant, comptent outfielder yet he gets no respect.
