Why not? Steve Carlton did, Nolan Ryan didn't lose anything of his fastball and settle down to walk less batter, Randy Johnson did...why not Clemens?

Don't be mislead by that contract for this year. That was a max number he could earn. It was all dependent on games pitched and production. As far as I'm concerned you can blame those totally out of proportion salaries on George Steinbrenner. Years ago he started buying World Series by paying players outrageous salaries. At that point any other team that wanted to be competitive had to start matching the foolish numbers. Now we are at the point where we offer $28 Million for less than a years work. Can you say BULL SUGAR !!!

Steinbrenner may have had something back when he first started that, but he's still doing it & it's not working. He needs a reailty check.
Clemens has been bounced around from team to team & in an out of retirement. I'm not sure but I don't think those others were & if that is the case, why was he traded and the others pretty much stayed put.

Re: Schilling to Clemens - Give back The Cy Young Award

so lets look at this closely, he says pettite is guilty, which pettite admits, but says he used hgh to recover form an injury, and never around Clemens. Clemens says these allegations come from a man who roofied a girl who almost drowned in a pool cause of it. Honestly as a big of a Yankee fan as u all know me as, i don't know who to believe on this roger issue. Time will tell i guess, dont get me wrong i wont condone steroids, but at the same time why as a country should we take this serious when Merriman lost no respect from the nfl world for his steroids usage? Is it cause its a contact sport. Cause i doubt there is rampant steroid usage in the nhl like we have seen in the nfl since the 60's and on

Well, I'm fairly new here & I don't know how big of a Yankee fan you are but I can respect your opinion. You actually seem pretty intelligent unlike the Yankee fans I know LOL. Seriously, if it were crack or heroin, would we be having this 'debate'? Last time I checked, they were all illegal. Then there is the moral issue. I can give Pettite all the respect in the world, he was man enough to admit it & apologize. I am of the opinion that you get to the big leagues without the skill it takes to get there, once you are there you can work hard & develop yourself until you achieve greatness or you can slack off & develop yourself with chemicals, which gives an edge on all the great ones who worked their ass off to get & stay where they are. I know alot of people are down on Schilling but I see him on the bench taking notes on how to improve himself.
