What better deterent than the thought of losing a multi million dollar salary? They are getting astronomical amounts of money for their skill not somethimg they bought at the pharmacy.

If banning is too extreme, how about dropping their pay grade to the league minimum. If they are caught taking drugs, they get paid what a rookie does. The rest of the money is a fine to charity. Then the second failed test they are gone. I know this would never be accepted because of the union, but I think it is a great idea.

I don't think anybody is going to be punished. The purpose is to scare guys into not doing it anymore by the public shame that they'll endure.

The thing I find really dumb is that for 20 months, this is all he came up with? It just so happens that Mitchell got the majority of this info from 2 guys, which explains why so many Yankees are on it.

What - nobody on the Mariners or Royals took steroids? It's hard for me to believe that guys like Mike Piazza and Manny Ramirez didn't juice up.
