Before they finished during the night, the Red Sox and Twins exchanged medical records on a few players. So it appears a deal is close.

What is being talked about is, shockingly: Lester, Crisp, Jed Lowrie and Justin Masterson for Johan Santana.

Talk about highway robbery if that's the final deal.

I don't like Lester & Coco in the deal. Ellsbury still has a lot to learn & Coco is the one to mentor him & then there is the 4th OF. Kielty is good, but he's no Coco. As far as Lester goes, he lacks the stamina to be a starter, for now. He didn't have the flu, he had a life threatening disease which the treatment is almost as bad as the disease itself. Basically, he needs to build himself up so that he can give more than 5 innings. However, he could do damage in the bullpen.

Gina, if you're about to get one of the top pitchers in the game and the main duo you give up are Jon Lester and Coco Crisp, you should be dancing with joy.

The Twins are getting fleeced IMO if they do that deal.

I guess you're right, but I just keep thinking about Gagne. I know he isn' t comparable to Santana, but he was supposed to be one of the best relievers in the game, yet when he came into the game nobody felt any relief, more like grief. Then there is Dice K who was a big disappointment.
