Red Sox Re-Sign Mike Lowell

ESPN reports the Boston Red Sox have re-signed free-agent thirdbasemen and World Series MVP Mike Lowell today. The deal is for three-years and $37.5 million.

He probably could have gotten more had he gone elsewhere but he chose to stay with Boston. One report said Boston gave him an ultimatum or they would pull their offer.

Re: Red Sox Re-Sign Mike Lowell

Miguel Cabrera would've been a better third-baseman for the Red Sox, IMO.

Perhaps, but what would they have had to part with to get him? Better just to resign the World Series MVP and be done with it.

Re: Red Sox Re-Sign Mike Lowell

Cabrera is 9 years younger but what terms would he have wanted in a contract ??? Right now the Sox are not interested in any long term contracts ... or so it seems anyway.

I'm pretty content with re-signing Lowell.
