| Re: Papelbon Riverdance 2007 I can't help it. I detest them all, but especailly Papelbon. Beckett as well, even more so after I sat with a man up at Umass Medical Center who put together events for Boston athletes to sign autographs for kids with cancer. He told me of how Beckett and his agent sat there and Beckett refused to sign a kid's hat because it wasn't part of the merchandise that they had agreed to distribute. This guy actually took Beckett aside and told him to get the *&%@ out. He told Beckett he would pay him his fee but that he wanted him to go, and then Beckett finally was shamed into signing the kid's hat.
This same guy also told me the best athlete, by far, with these kids was Kevin Millar. He met and spent hours with a kid dying from cancer who liked Millar of all the Red Sox the best. He then gave the kid a bunch of tickets to the next day's game, a jacket, and told him to call him up to meet his friends when he came out on the field. This kids dad and this guy that told me the story that set the whole thing up were bawling their eyes out, the kid was so happy. The next day the kid tells all his friends that are at the game with him that his best pal is Millar, and these kids jaws drop when Millar runs up from the field and signs all their stuff. Classless versus all the class in the world. |
