| Just Put Your Head Down and Run, Manny ![]() What Manny did last night, that was just idiotic. In the 6th inning of last night's Boston loss, Ramirez followed Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz in going back-to-back-to-back with home runs. After Manny hit his frozen rope out to right-center, he stood at the plate and raised his arms in the air before starting a slow walk to first base. It's as if Manny didn't realize his team was still losing 7-3, and they were on the verge of going down three games to one in a best of seven series. The Indians and Red Sox get the day off today before resuming their series with game 5 in Cleveland on Thursday night, but if I'm Cleveland, I don't forget it. Sure, the Indians are probably going to have the final laugh when they move on to the World Series, but I think I'd send a message to Ramirez before moving on.. | Re: Just Put Your Head Down and Run, Manny 21 post season at bats and 4 of them are homers. Batting 429 in the post season. Not that I like or agree with this statement but "It's just Manny being Manny" |

But... I just feel for the most part it is a "look at me" kind of thing, not some plot to get under the skin of the other team. Since I can't be in the players head, this is probably an unfair assumption by me, but it has just gotten tiresome. It just seems every home run, Touch down, or slam dunk has turned into a big "look at me" moment. I may be getting a bit jaded! It just seems to me though, that still being down 7-3, or down by four touchdowns, and celebrating in such grand fashion is in poor taste! Hit a walk off homer, or score the winning touchdown in OT, and I'm good with it, but not every time. (easing soap box back into closet, and throwing stuff on top) |

| Re: Just Put Your Head Down and Run, Manny Ramirez later offered a compelling explanation. From the Boston Globe: "Man, I'm just happy to do something special like that," Ramírez said. "I'm not trying to show up anybody out there. I'm just trying to go have fun. If somebody strikes me out and shows me up, that's part of the game. I love it. I like that. I like to compete, and when people strike me out or whatever and they show me up, it's all good. There's no hard feelings. I'm not trying to show anybody up." I understand hes just having fun but I just dont think he shouldve done that in a losing situation, doesnt make sense being down in the series and losing the game to show cockiness..Now if he woulda won the game with that homer I can justify that.. |

| Re: Just Put Your Head Down and Run, Manny Bob Gibson wouldn't have even waited for him to get to first base, he'd have run over and knocked him out. But Manny would not have done that in Gibson's era anyways. Aaron told Dusty Baker once that if he ever hit a homer off of Gibson, run around the bases with your head down and don't look at him. If he hits you with a pitch, go to first and don't charge the mound, cause Gibson was also a Gold Gloves boxer. Baker was so intimidated that he went 0 for 4.
