BoSox manager yells at MLB exec during game?

Tired of repeated warnings falling on deaf ears, The Post has learned Bob Watson entered the Red Sox dugout during last night's game to talk to Terry Francona about not wearing a uniform jersey while managing. Francona opts for a red pullover, which is sanctioned by MLB properties. Upon seeing baseball's top cop, who was ushered into the dugout by an MLB resident security agent, Francona snapped at Watson. "Get out of the dugout during the game," Francona firmly told Watson, who left. Watson, a vice president of on-field operations, has warned and fined coaches and managers for wearing a pullover instead of a jersey. He recently docked Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long $1,000 for not wearing a jersey. -- NY Post

Good for Francona. There's a time and a place to discuss that, and it's not in the dugout during the middle of the game!

He should lighten up anyway. The managers look pretty ridiculous IMO wearing a players uniform. They are the only sport to have them wear one. Could you imagine Tom Landry wearing a Dallas uniform while coaching??

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, boo freakin hoo .... crybaby. wear what your supposed to and shut the F up.

Oh, but IT IS the place, because that's when he's supposed to be adhering to MLB's dress code, during the game. They already "discussed" it with him previously and he obviously wasn't listening to them.

Next thing you know he'll argue a baserunning call when his player was a foot into the grass (doesnt get any more obvious than that) ... oh wait, he did argue that? hmmm.

Lefty is right on this. It is really not right to discipline anybody in front of others....especially 30,000+ people. If those are the rules, then he should adhere to them, but the executive had no business interfering in the game. Wait until it is over and suspend/fine whatever.

a little dramatic there ... discipline in front of 30k? (probably more like 55k) do you really think the fans were watching someone slip into the visitor dugout? no, they weren't. also, they didn't go down there mid-pitch. regardless, he needs to learn his place. it's not above MLB, he has to listen regardless how silly it is. if they want to check (since he was already warned) they can check. seems he's feeling a little more important than he really is, but that's consistent with boston and their fans, so he fits right in.

Let me guess, you're a Yankee fan. It doesn't matter how many people saw it. If there was more than just those two, there were too many people there. How would you feel if your principle yelled at you and gave you a detention in front of the whole school. It would not be right. It is something for a closed meeting.

So then do it before the first pitch, after the game or between innings. But don't interrupt the guy in the middle of an inning, when he's got Jeter on second base. Sorry, I don't care what team you're a fan of - this was just flat out a stupid thing for baseball to do. Francona's got a job to do. Let him do it.
