My 1st Game at Fenway Park

I've got tickets for my 1st game at Fenway Park. Looks like I'll have 4 seats for either the Tuesday or Wednesday night game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. 7:05 game. I've checked the weather & it looks like no rain but gametime temp around 50.

Right now, my tickets to this Red Sox game would be 10 rows behind the Sox bullpen. I'm trying to get an upgrade to loge seats but not sure that'll happen.

Since I've never been to Fenway before and it's a night game, I'm not sure what to expect. Do I need to bundle up a good bit or will a light jacket do? Is it windy in Fenway?

My hotel's only a mile away. How early to get to the game? What's to do before/after?

Anybody have 1st hand knowledge if these seats are pretty good?

Any suggestions are appreciated

I've sat two rows behind the Sox bullpen, and they're not terrible seats. The thing about Fenway is that any seat is good because just getting into the park is a slight miracle these days. You'll be in a great spot to experience the true Fenway atmosphere, but it's hard to ever turn down an upgrade. I never sat in Loge, so I don't really know what the atmosphere there is like. I like to suggest people try to visit Fenway a few times to sit in each different spot, since the crowds at the game are pretty different in each section.

Where exactly is your hotel? What streets? A mile away means you can easily walk. Without knowing where exactly your hotel is, I can't say what route, though. If you take the train, take the green line and exit at Kenmore and follow the crowds.

Get there early though and spend some time on Yawkey Way/Landsdowne St just taking it all in. There are bars and restaurants surrounding Fenway, all of which are fun places to spend time pre-game and post. Some of the biggest are Game On, Cask and Flagon, and Boston Billiards. Billiards has $2 drafts (at least, they did last year - not sure if it continued).

Regarding clothes, in Boston, it's all about layers. Take lots of them and you won't be sorry.

Oh, and take a camera. Fenway is beautiful.

I'm at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, Prudential Center. Thanks for the tips

Hey, this is pretty cool:

With Google maps & their satellite image, I can almost count 10 rows behind the Red Sox bullpen.

See that little triangle where Beacon and Comm Ave meet?

I used to live there. Oh how I miss it.

That little thing is really cool. So what is the point of downloading Google Earth?

Make good use of your free time, Boston is unquestionably the best city in the northeast.

Re: My 1st Game at Fenway Park

What an awesome experience!

Wasn't able to upload from my pda but below is me in our great seats just before the game started. I didn't have my digital camera so this one with my phone is the only picture so far. Got about 30 more pics of Fenway on the disposable cameras but won't have those for another few days.

Wait til you the see the pictures of me and my buddy Arthur D'Angelo.

We had one of the most exciting games I could imagine: leadoff homerun over the Green Monster, huge 3rd inning, errors galore by Tampa Bay, an ESPN sportscenter top 10 highlight... spent the last few innings wandering around Fenway, talking with locals, singing like crazy, helping harrass the fun Yankees fans...

I'll sit down & lay out the whole experience, my 1st visit to Fenway Park, when I get done with my trip.

There were Yankee fans there? Wow! I guess you'll find them anywhere...
