So they went years without a series win...does that automatically then raise the victory to the single greatest moment in Sox history?...How about Ted Williams final at bat, when he hit a homer? Or better yet, Fisk and the 12th inning homer against the Reds in game six of 1975?

Though I am a Red's fan, I remember that stupid blast vividly...I got to go to bed late on a school night to see it...what a game...what an ending.

The Fisk homer was the first one that came to mind for me, but yeah, I'm sure most Sox fans will say it's the World Series win.

See, but that is just it...the Fisk homer is classic...everyone knows the Fisk homer...Doesn't that make it "the moment?"

In my book it does. There's no one moment from the Series win that stands out to me. But then, I'm not a Red Sox fan.

If you want to clarify and ask for the greatest in game moment, it would be Fisk's homer. There have been many negative monents, such as Slaughter's scoring from first in the 1946 Series, the Buckner play, and the Boone home run. Clemens two 20 strikeout games figure in here, Wiliams going 6-8 in a doubleheader to hit .406, and the Impossible Dream clinching victory over the Twins in 1967.

One that few people, even die-hard Sox fans, remember is Jim Lonborg pitching a one-hitter against the Cardinals in Game Two of the 67 World Series, allowing only a two out eighth inning double to Julian Javier.

it isnt the Fisk homer ........ it isnt even winning the World Series in 2004 ....... it was coming back after being down 0-3 to the Yankees to win the 2004 ALCS

you really have no idea how much we hate the Yankees do you ?
