Beckett to miss next start

Red Sox hurler Josh Beckett will miss his next start. According to the Associated Press, "Beckett, baseball's winningest pitcher at 7-0, has a torn flap of skin that hasn't completely healed... Beckett is 'doing very well, very well,' manager Terry Francona said, and will throw a side session before Friday's game against Atlanta."

A torn flap of skin? It sounds like a cape.

Re: Beckett to miss next start

Beckett's going to the DL, and should be back for his scheduled May 29th start vs. Cleveland.

According to the AP, "Beckett, baseball's winningest pitcher at 7-0, is recovering from a torn flap of skin on the middle finger of his throwing hand. The right-hander will throw on the side before Friday night's game against Atlanta, which he had been scheduled to start... The Red Sox said Beckett would go on the disabled list Friday and right-hander Devern Hansack would be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to face the Braves."

Re: Beckett to miss next start

Just a quick note on Beckett. I met a guy up in Worcester, Mass. recently who does alot of things with charities for cancer kids. He is involved with procuring players from Boston sports teams for such causes and when I asked him who the best guy with the kids was, he said it was without a doubt Kevin Millar when he was a memebr of the Red Sox. Above and beyond with the kids to the point where he made this guy and other parents cry with his good deeds. Beckett was not at the top of this fellow's list.
