Josh Beckett is hoping not to miss his next start due to an avulsion on his right middle finger, but whether or not he will be able to take the ball this weekend definitely seems up in the air at this point, according to the Boston Globe. Beckett had to leave Sunday's start in the fourth inning after he felt a piece of skin on the finger tear away. "I have had one of these before," Beckett said. "It seems to react a little bit better [than blisters]. There's two things we've got to do, we've got to get it to dry out because you've got fresh skin, then you've got to toughen it up. What the timetable is, I'm not sure what we're looking at. Hopefully I can make my next start, but that's a big hopefully."
