| Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 Monday April 23, 2007 Tomo Ohka, RHP (0-2, 7.02) Blue Jays (8-10) vs. Tim Wakefield, RHP (2-1, 1.35) Red Sox (12-5) Scouting Report: Blue Jays: Ohka turned in his best start of the young season last time out, limiting the Red Sox to four runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings on Wednesday. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before yielding the first of three solo home runs he'd allow in the loss. That trip to the mound was Ohka's only career appearance against Boston, but he pitched for the Red Sox for parts of the 1999-2001 seasons. Ohka is 3-8 with a 3.95 ERA in 17 career games at Fenway Park. Red Sox: Wakefield's knuckleball has been in top form in his first three starts, as he's allowed one earned run each time out. He'll pitch against the Blue Jays for the second time in a row. Wakefield will try to duplicate his success of Wednesday at Rogers Centre, where he held Toronto to just four hits over seven innings. Lifetime against the Jays, Wakefield is 13-8. Tuesday April 24, 2007 Roy Halladay, RHP (2-0, 2.37) Blue Jays (8-10) vs. Julian Tavarez, RHP (0-1, 6.75) Red Sox (12-5) Scouting Report: Blue Jays: In his last trip to the mound, Halladay earned a no-decision after Toronto's bullpen couldn't hold a two-run lead against Boston in the eighth inning on Thursday. The right-hander was charged with two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 7 1/3 innings. Halladay threw 95 pitches and induced 13 outs via ground balls in the outing. For his career, Halladay is 8-7 with a 4.51 ERA in 28 outings against the Red Sox. He's 3-4 with a 4.81 ERA at Fenway Park. Red Sox: Considering he was pitching on 11 days' rest, the Red Sox couldn't have asked for much more out of Tavarez than he provided in his start on Thursday at Toronto. Tavarez gave up six hits and three runs over 5 1/3 innings, and he kept his team close enough to pull out a comeback win. Tavarez got a no-decision. After walking five batters in his first start, Tavarez didn't allow any in his second. This will be his first start at Fenway this season. |

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 Personally, I am feeling very confident about tonight's game....tomorrow, well anytime Tavarez is pitching I really don't feel too well. Who knows though, if the offense can produce like they have been lately, maybe. If anything, the New York series hopefully lit that fire under them and got them pumped up, which happens a lot of years. Can't wait for tonights game!! |

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 Did you make those scouting reports, RedSoxGirl28? They are excellent, and contain an extensive analysis of the key players. The Red Sox should win both games, but will have a harder time in the second one against Roy Halladay. |

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 If Boston can win the games that you would expect them to on paper, they will build a decent lead in the East. But I believe that the Yankees exposed their pitching as being less than advertised, except for Paplebon, who is now the game's premier closer.

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 True enough. As bad as the pitching was for New York, those games were pretty close on the whole, and as you point out legend... what does that say about Boston's rotation? Yesterday was my first good look at Matsuzaka, and I came away a little underwhelmed. He's a #2 starter at best. Solid, but not dominant, and he has some control issues. But Paplebon? If they can get it to him, it's game over. Much like Mariano used to be.

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 Mariano Rivera is not considered one of the best closers anymore? I must've had my head in a hole because I still think he is better than Frankie Rodriguez. Papelbon may be a different story, though. |

He's not the best anymore, but he has choked against us time and time before, however, other teams....he kills them. |

| Re: Red Sox vs. Blue Jays 4/23-4/24 That line drive he caught almost gave you your wish. Luckily he caught it, for him and for Yankee fans everywhere. He is awful, and they would be doing themselves a favor to get rid of him. |
