Re: Red Sox Nation Pride ok, the first game of the season is out of the way.....and there isnt much to cheer about i suppose you can be happy Papi is in-shape enough to lumber around the bases quickly enough to get a double Schilling is supposed to be our ace and he looked like hell......walking in a damn run but, actually, another thing to remember is that the Sox have a history of poor opening days........a losing record so it isnt the end of the world many of the "experts" fully expect Dice-K to have a great year.....possibly even 20+ wins........so that adds a lot Schill will pull his head out of his butt and be fine........Beckett should be good for 15+ wins........Wakefield should be good for 12+........and Paplebon should be great as the closer if we can get some quality middle relief somehow Boston should be a favorite in the AL

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride youre so right legend........Ortiz is 2 for 11 right now which isnt really like him his career BA is only .283......but still i would agree something is wrong just have to hold out faith he will come out of it

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride i really hope so dude i have to think as impressive as he was, he will only get better.....he must have been nervous i think Tuesday in Boston will show alot.........his nerves should be as high as they will get until the playoffs .........if he can do as well Tuesday as he did yesterday (or maybe even better) then we found our new ace

And boston has a history of this Big Bopper DH-1B types...George Scott, Mo Vaughn, David Ortiz...I don't think they are happy unless they have a plus 250 lb guy lumbering around... |

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride Ortiz is only 231 right now but once he gets in the groove that will hopefully jump up to a more respectable number. A little increase in pitching ability and a few more runs and we'll be in the hunt.

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride things could hardly be going better sure we could use a few more runs in a few games, but i am confident that will come our team ERA at the moment is 2.58 cant really ask for more then that if we can manage to keep our team EAR below 3 it should be an amazing season

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride things couldnt look much better right now the bats are coming to life and the pitchers are doing well Lester had a good start in rehab last night and he should be in the rotation soon hopefully an upgrade from Tavarez then we may just be unstoppable

Re: Red Sox Nation Pride In the AL East, they are slaughtering the Yankees. It's not looking good for the Bronx Bombers thus far. I heard that Joe Torre may get the axe, but I believe this measure isn't all that possible.

I guess I've never really understood the idea of firing a manager. I've always understood that the largest benefit from doing that was to increase morale. That has zero to do with pitching or hitting. Joe didn't throw one pitch last night so how do you blame pitching on the manager ??? Maybe I just view it all wrong but I don't see him as making bad decision after bad decision. Get to the root of the problem. Right now it is pitching. Giambi's bat is crap right now. Why aren't they talking about canning the batting coach ? Oh well they are helping the Red Sox dominate so it can't be all bad.
