Matsuzaka, the latest international sensation will make his first start in the States on March 2nd in an exhibition game versus Boston College. MLB.com reports "The Boston College contest is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. ET at City of Palms Park."


I hope the guy is good or all this press attention and hype will be worse than Irabu for the Yanks.

That kid lined an opposite-field double that was seen on live television in Japan... Matsuzaka had no trouble after that 92 mph fastball, striking out three of his remaining six batters to help the Boston Red Sox beat the Eagles 9-1 in seven innings Friday night."

Hey now...that kid has a career highlight...he doubled off a major leaguer former Japanese star...I bet he has a video of it to show all his friends and kin for the next forty years.

Really good debut. Then again, it was against a college team lol. But so far so good, nothing to hint he's going to be average.

...except for a line double that is. I wonder how he felt getting hit for a double off the bat...did he think, "oh crap, the college kid got lucky, let me take it up a notch or two."

He was probably expecting a weak outing, so he threw some change-ups.

But once the collegial athlete popped one for a double, he realized that he had to rise to the occasion and justify his contract.
