| There are a lot of things you can say about me. For example, you may question my sanity or my math skills as fans of RLYW have recently done. Yet when it comes to critiquing Weblogs, the one thing you can’t say about me is that I am not an “equal opportunity offender.” I am. Thus, while last week I took aim at sub par Yankee Blogs, this week I will focus my attention on the Blogs of the Yankee’s long time rival, the Boston Red Sox. The Professional, The Idiot, and The Tailback http://www.crimsonlibbersoxfan.blogspot.com/ If truth be told, I had high hopes for a Blog with such a quirky name. As a rule of thumbs, I tend to like quirky things, but I couldn’t get past the bizarre factor with this one. Look, I have nothing against Star Trek, Veggies, or the Boston Red Sox, but I wouldn’t mix the three and call it a Blog. To be fair, this site has some good Red Sox’s pictures, but too often off-beat gives way to just plain weird. But hey if you’re a Trekkie, who also happens to like the Red Sox, well then this Blog is for you. The rest of you are better off looking else where. Ratings: Design: Swing and a Miss Content: At the Plate with a Fungo Bat Graphics: Back to the Minors Humor: Spring Training Double Commentary: Ball takes a Bad Bounce Scouting Report: Missed the Turn to the Star Trek Convention. El Guapo's Ghost http://www.elguaposghost.blogspot.com/ Okay this is the part where I swallow my pride and apology to those poor fans of RLYW. El Guapo’s Ghost claims to be a Blog put together by a “stats geek.” But having made the claim, it then fails to deliver. Even RLYW without a pie chart could make a better claim on the argument for a “Blog driven by a stats geek.” So yes, to those who took offense at my write up of RLYW last week, “I am truly, truly sorry, I had not crossed path’s with “El Guapo’s Ghost.” Now there, don’t we both feel better? Ratings: Design: Pitcher At Bat Content: Weak Single to Right Graphics: A-Ball Humor: Back-up Infielder Commentary: Infield Single Scouting Report: If it makes it to the Show its because of the Glove. Obey Pedro http://www.obeypedro.com/ Maybe this Blog went to pots when Pedro took off for New York. If so, it should now be listed in critical condition and on life support. With Spring Training going into full swing, and all other Red Sox bloggers hurrying to jot down the latest minutiae that is taking part in Red Sox camp, Obey Pedro is left back at the starting blocks. Its latest post reports that there is nothing yet to talk about from Sox camp this year. Okay, we get it, Pedro’s gone, but doggone it dude there is plenty left to write about. So get a little motivated and start typing away. As it is, Pedro is in the ICU, its pulse is weak and soon they will be erecting a tomb stone that reads, “Rest in Peace Pedro.” Ratings: Design: Intentional Walk Content: On Injured Reserve Graphics: Safe at First on Fielder’s Choice Humor: Wild Pitch Rolls to the Back Stop Commentary: Fails to show up for Practice Scouting Report: Content to sit on the Bench and Collect a Paycheck. A Red Sox Fan In Pinstripe Territory http://letsgosox.blogspot.com/ Look I have empathy for anyone caught behind enemy lines. And truth be told, this site has some humor to it. What it doesn’t have is a lot of info on the Red Sox. So if you want a journal of what it feels like to live in New York as a Sox’s fan, sure why not indulge in this simplistic Blog. On the other hand, if you are looking for news on the Sox and Spring Training speculations, its best to go look elsewhere. Ratings: Design: AA- Ball Content: Cricket is not really Baseball. Graphics: Sent to the Showers Humor: Had to Hustle into Second to Avoid the Tag Commentary: Single to the Opposite Field Scouting Report: Those that Can’t Play Often Coach. Well Sox Blog fans, that’s my review and I am sticking to it. No use wasting your time trying to tell me where the horse and cart jump off the tracks. You are better off contacting these sites and demanding a total improvement in the quality of their Blog offerings. After all, you are the consumer. You have the right to be heard. | Re: Worst Boston Red Sox Blogs What more can I say, Gotham. I am touched by your kindness. I almost feel compelled to start a bad Blue Jackets blog just so you can have material for one of your threads. Furthermore, I ask, nay, insist that you bash bad Pirates blogs just as you would any other team's material. After all, you have taken up this burden, to make the Internet a better place free of the septic waste that is second-rate fan-penned commentary. Especially those lacking pie charts. Only you can do this for humanity. Carry on smartly, my friend, carry on smartly. |
