Earlier today, the Red Sox acquired two arms for their bullpen in a series of moves that strongly improves their whole team. They traded rookie LHP Phil Seibel to the Angels for RHP Brendan Donnelly and then signed free-agent LHP J.C. Romero.

Here are some numbers from their performances last season...

Donnelly: 64.0 IP, 3.94 ERA, 53 K, 28 BB, 58 H, .240 BAA, 1.34 WHIP

Romero: 48.1 IP, 6.70 ERA, 31 K, 28 BB, 57 H, .298 BAA, 1.76 WHIP (note, he pitched last season with the Angels...after having great success as a Twin)

To my interpretation, Donnelly seems as if he is the better ace.
