Manny Ramirez Staying in Beantown

It looks like the annual Manny Ramirez trade storm has gone and passed us. Ramirez is still a member of the Red Sox and it looks like he will remain one for the forseeable future.

SI says those involved are looking at this as though any potential deals involving the future Hall of Famer are now dead.

Now, Boston is stocked with fire power in the form of David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and JD Drew.

It should be a sweet race in the AL East this year.

I have to say that if the Sox can add a decent closer and setup man (and manage to sign Matsuzaka), they'll be the favorites to win the East.

Re: Manny Ramirez Staying in Beantown

Drew should be hitting 4th, so Manny will have SOME sort of protection.
I think they'll also try an move Coco back to lead off --- something like this...

Crisp
Lugo
Ortiz
Manny
Drew
Lowell
Varitek
Youkilis
Pedroia

No question that now the issue is just pitching. Who remains free of ijury as always will have a large impact. The pitching staff will be interesting to watch develope during the off season.
