| At last, there may be a market for Manny |

| Re: At last, there may be a market for Manny The Sox would be utter fools to get rid of Manny ( unless they were exchanging him for Soriano, Rodriguez, or Pujols). Why does Papi hit so many homers? Because pitchers don't want to walk him, and face Manny with a runner(s) on! If Manny's not there, Ortiz gets nothing to hit.... guess what? Getting rid of Manny takes two of the best bats in baseball out of the Red Sox lineup. |

| Re: At last, there may be a market for Manny Of course not... the Sox have a pretty good rotation setting up for '07. ( Matsuzaka, Schilling, Papelbon, Beckett, and Wakefield ) If you lose Manny, you basically lose your entire offense. No two pitchers are worth that... |

| Re: At last, there may be a market for Manny I hesitate sticking my nose in here since I am not a big stats follower but I am a Sox fan so here is my 2 cents worth. Schilling is or will be 43. I gotta believe he doesn't have what he had at age 29. Papelbon is questionable because they aren't really sure he can start with any real effectiveness or how long he can last. On that one I truly hope I'm wrong. Wakefield just scares me when they bring him in. Again I'm no statisical expert.

I really think Papelbon will work out, Beckett should be better then last year (he couldn't possibly get worse), Schilling will be so-so, and Matsuzaka will be an ace. Yes the Sox could use some back-end-of-the-rotation pitchers, but they can't lose Manny and still expect to compete with the Yankees. |

| Re: At last, there may be a market for Manny Manny is a better hitter and player than Ortiz, IMO. But I agree that without one another, they'll have OBPs of .600 but never see a thing to hit. |
