The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that there is a possible trade in the works that would send Ray King of the Colorado Rockies to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for right-handed reliever Julian Tavarez. Would this be a good deal for the BoSox, in your estimation?

According to ESPN, the Red Sox are in conversations about sending third baseman Mike Lowell to San Diego for pitching help.

The Providence Journal is reporting that Boston may deal Wily Mo Pen for Minnesota's Kyle Lohse, Arizona's Miguel Batista or Cleveland's Jake Westbrook.

Any other good BoSox trade rumors out there right now?

As for the Mike Lowell trade I would pass, that infield is solid, thats a major part of their recent success.

Here's the latest Red Sox rumor, from Yahoo! Sports: "Trot Nixon, the longest-tenured Boston Red Sox player, is the subject of trade rumors, the Boston Globe reports. The 32-year-old right fielder is batting just .183 (11 for 60) in July and has not homered in his last 121 at-bats." I bet a lot of Boston fans would hate to see Nixon go, eh?

All that over Trot Nixon?...a bit obsessive...the guy is a .280 lifetime hitter has never driven in 100 runs and is a decent fielder...What's the big deal?...All of a sudden he is Mr. Redsox?...An untouchable?...Its a business people get traded....maybe I will get trade at my job...maybe they can get to CAD designers, and a data entry person for me?...

Trot Nixon is a Red Sox veteran. He returns every year and has earned respect from the fans. He can be compared to Jason Varitek, since they will both likely end their careers in Red Sox. You don't even mention their names during trade talks.

Other names which come to mind are Pedro Martinez and Johnny Damon. How does Boston survive without them?

Simply, he has earned the respect of the fans and his team so they won't let him go.

Also, Jason Varitek is actually hitting pretty well compared to the other catchers.

you forget, Varitek calls an excellent game and is respected by his pitching staff. Got to take it into account. Jason is also a local boy...played high school baseball at Lake Brantley High...one of my co-workers son played with him and knows him well...he is a nice guy.

This Red Sox management team has shown that it has no loyalty to any player. Bronson Arroyo signed for a "home town discount" only to be traded to the Reds for Wily Mo Pena. If the Red Sox can send Nixon packing, you better believe they will not take into account his time served with the club.
