"The Boston College defense will have to play without their physical and emotional leader on defense in 2007 as senior-to-be Brian Toal has confirmed that he won't play this upcoming season. Toal will redshirt following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder back in March," reports Sean Stanton of EagleAction.com. Toal is a former Big East Rookie of the Year who had 50 tackles while playing hurt for most of last season. Big loss for B.C. don't you think?

that is a big loss. You never want to lose your on field leader with 2 1/2 weeks to go before the start of the season. I wonder who will step up and take control of the defense.

That's a darn good question. Looking at the roster, I'm not seeing any seniors on the BC defense. Maybe JoLonn Dunbar or Tyronne Pruitt?

It always sucks to see a great player injured. He was always fun to watch. He was the QB of their defense. Hopefully someone can step up and deliver, because they have a tough game against Wake week 1. No time for diddly daddling
