Steve Kerr: Celtics not improved

According to Steve Kerr of Yahoo! Sports, the Boston Celtics are one of three teams that needed to make significant improvement during the offseason and have thus far failed to do so.

"What are the Celtics faithful going to do if Boston doesn't do anything between now and training camp?" Kerr wonders. "The C's signed Paul Pierce to a three-year extension, but he had the best season of his career last year and the team only won 33 games. So clearly Boston has to give him some help."

"With a group of young, talented players like Al Jefferson, Delonte West, Kendrick Perkins, and Sebastian Telfair, the Celtics have some assets to work with and should be able to swing a deal. But so far, Danny Ainge has kept his hand... If Ainge can't swing a deal, Celtics fans will have to hope that their young players truly emerge this year, or 2007 will be just like 2006: lots of Paul Pierce and another trip to the lottery."

So, what do the Celts need to do to get better, and will they do it?

I agree with Kerr. I don't see how the Celtics are any better this year.

you would...

What makes Kerr and expert anyway?

..and you missed Green, Gomes from that young talent pool. These kids looked good at the end of last year. Of course they will improve...

Come on Pundit...take a chance...try taking the road least traveled every once in a while.

Re: Steve Kerr: Celtics not improved

personally, ive been saying for awhile now, i think they need a real good player over 7 feet tall

ESPN.com: Boston Celtics Roster

as you can see they dont even have a 7 footer on the team, good or otherwise

Re: Steve Kerr: Celtics not improved

Unfortunately Boston is not going to get much better....Nobody wants to play there any more. There was a time when Boston was a great destination for top free agents to consider playing at. Now the top places players want to go are Phoenix, Dalllas, San Antonia, and Miami. Players want to play and live in the warmer climates. It is very difficult to attract the top players to the cold eastern cities. Hopefully this trend will not continue.

I don't know. They seem just to have a mish-mosh of offensive players. Where's the Paul Silas to jump on those boards? I mean Pierce led the team in boards.

I think Al Jefferson will come around on the boards, and Gomes ended the season well for them...

I like Silas, but he had the equally tenacious Dave Cowens to work with...ah, the good old days...

What abut Drew Gooden for this team, Gotham? He averaged over 8 boards a game.
