Re: Boston Celtics exercise options on Telfair, three others; sign Ray

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics exercised the options on newly acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair and three others Thursday, then signed undrafted free agent Allan Ray of Villanova.
Telfair, along with forward Al Jefferson and guards Delonte West and Gerald Green, will remain under contract through the 2007-08 season.
Telfair averaged 9.5 points and 3.6 assists in 2005-06, his second NBA season. He was acquired from Portland on draft night along with Theo Ratliff and a draft pick in a deal that sent the No. 7 overall pick to the Trail Blazers along with forward Raef LaFrentz, point guard Dan Dickau and cash.
Ray scored 2,025 points to become the No. 6 all-time scorer in school history, averaging 15.4 points and making 312 career three-pointers (.367). As a senior, he was second on the team with an 18.5 point scoring average and third with 37 steals. A New York native, he injured his eye in the Big East Tournament but scored 25 points in Villanova's second-round victory over Arizona in the NCAA tournament.
Jefferson averaged 7.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 59 games last season, recording five double-doubles. West averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds while starting 71 games, leading all the point guards in the league with 46 blocked shots.
Green averaged 5.2 points and 11.7 minutes in 32 games, scoring 19 points with a career-high six assists in his first NBA start at New Jersey on April 16.

Looks like they have a young nucleus to their team locked up for a for years ...can these palyers yield a winner for Ainge and company?
