| Newly acquired Wally Szczerbiak will average $12 million the next three seasons. The team will get a good scorer out of Wally who can compliment Pierce with his stellar outside shooting. However, he doesn't do much else on the court and for that price, Boston should expect more. The contracts of LaFrentz and Wally, along with Pierce, eat up most of the Celtic's cap space the next two years. Brian Scalabrine's contract is very cheap compared to them, averaging just over $3 million per year until 2010. The fact that the money goes to Brian Scalabrine makes it a bad deal. Nearly any rookie in the league can average 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds for a fraction of the cost. Wally (as much as I like him) is a bit pricey at $12 mil per season....but at least they get good production out of him...but they are right on Brian...heck any stiff out of Eastern Europe can get you 2.6 and 1.5 for the league minimum...that's just a cryin' shame to have him on the team |

| Re: Boston Celtics: State of the Cap The Celtics shouldn't hold their breath waiting for Jefferson and Perkins to develop into anything special and would be better off heading in another direction with this crew. |

| Re: Boston Celtics: State of the Cap They are going to need a second option to Pierce if they want too compete at anytime in the next five years. I really don't want too watch his career get ☻☻☻☻ed away while The Celtics are a borderline playoff team. This franchise has been stagnate since making the Eastern Conference Championship a few years ago. In other words, they need to find some way too dump Sczerbiak and LaFrentz and free up some cap room for either this off season or the 2007 free agency period. | Re: Boston Celtics: State of the Cap We don't know yet because there is a lottery, but it should be in between 7-12. The better question is What do the Celtics have to gain from a draft? They have a young promising point guard in West, a young scorer in Green and two young big men in Jefferson and Gomes. And obviously Paul Pierce. But how much more mileage does he have in him? I can give him up to five more years. Come to think of it, this could be a good place for Reddick too land, or someone else who can immediately contribute. It seems like the Celtics keep building for the future with little regard for the present. |

| Re: Boston Celtics: State of the Cap D'oh! I though the lottery had been held already but its always during the Finals, isn't it? Stupid me... can't believe I forgot that. Anyway. I think Reddick would be a great pick up for Boston, considering he's polished and he comes from a program with a winning tradition. |
