Just heard on Mike & Mike where Ryan Gomes of the Boston Celtics has admitted that his team intentionally tanked their game against the Bucks so they could clinch the worst record in the league. I mean, everyone knew it, but to go on record admitting it to all the fans and to the league office? Dumb, dumb move. So what will the fallout from Gomes admission be?

I don't expect any sort of fallout...maybe a fine just because it was made public, and Stern won't want to look bad. Just about every losing team in every sport does it. How do you think the Cavs got LeBron? It was obvious if you watched the games they were not playing to win.

I hope nothing happens to Gomes. I like him now. I hope he was only telling because he was disgusted by having to lose on purpose. That would show a drive to win that a fan would like to see.

I'm sure the team will do something to 'punish' him for saying such a thing to the public. A fine or something like that. It's just a stupid thing to admit...I'm sure his teammates aren't too happy with him saying that. It paints them in a bad light, too.

I didn't hear it personally but my son said that he heard on the radio that Ainge has now admitted to it and Stern is not a happy camper. Has anyone else heard this story ??
