Celtics losing streak vs. Spurs Up to the minute news about the Boston Celtics from GoTeamsGo. We'll find the latest Boston Celtics news so you can chat about here. Quote: In Boston: Celtics Can?t Beat the Streak
HoopsWorld - 22 hours ago
On January 8, 1997, the Boston Celtics beat the San Antonio Spurs.
Ten years and 18 games later, they haven’t been able to do it again.
The Spurs’ dominance dates back to the days of David Robinson, Sean Elliott and Avery Johnson. But it was the arrival of Tim Duncan that sparked San Antonio’s complete ownership of Boston.
Duncan has never lost to Boston during his ten-year career. He is averaging 22.4 points and 11.4 rebounds in 16 games against the Celtics.
“I would think Tim Duncan probably has a lot to do with it,” said Doc Rivers of San Antonio’s streak. “Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich, David Robinson, Avery Johnson, [Manu] Ginobili, [Tony] Parker, my guess is they have a lot to do with it.”
