| was thornton trade a good deal? An article in the toronto Star revisits the whole Thornton trade. Says until Thornton wins a Cup and can keep a team in the running, he isn't such a great loss to the bruins.
Which is interesting. They got Sturm, Primeau and Brad Stuart for Thornton. These guys are making Boston great-vs the Leafs, anyway. Although, these 3 are unsigned and could fly at the end of the season.
The article goes back to the Esposito trade, when the Chicago Blackhawks sent Phil Esposito, Fred Stanfield and Ken Hodge to the Bruins for Pit Martin, Gilles marotte and goalie Jack Norris.
Cited the same thing as the Bruins did re thornton - Esposito wasn't a leader and wouldn't take them to the Cup.
Phil proved them wrong.
