Ride Gallery

this (sub)forum is getting a little dusty from lack of use.

so this thread is for you to post pics of your ride, or the ride you wish you had.

remember to give us a description of what we're looking at and what makes it so special to you.

also, the forum software limits you to 4 pics in a single post so if you want to post more, you'll have to split them up.

I'm gonna start it off with our current race car.

It's a re-clipped (for asphalt) Dirt Works chassis with a custom body. The engine is a Chevy Vortec 350 (highly modified) with a 500 CFM 2 barrell carb and Dynaflo headers. Makes about 450 hp. It has a 4 speed trans and a Ford 9" rear end. The car weighs 2525 lbs. and will compete in the Cricket Pro Modified Series based at Houston Motorsports Park. My son, Cory, drives. Since the re-clipping, the car has only made half a dozen laps in practice (we had a bearing failure in the rear end, followed by some strange stuff going on in the engine .. we're thinking we finally found the culprit, but in the meantime found one of the heads is cracked, so we're in the process of getting all that fixed.

Picture was taken about a month ago in my front yard looking north west. On the horizon is a gravel plant (that light colored area behind the telephone pole) about half a mile on the west side of IH35. That's 12 miles as the crow flies (yeah, we have a great view!!!)

This is my 2005 Kia Rio! My last car which was a 1991 Toyota Camry had a bit of car troubles and the engine blew while going down the highway. Kinda sucked...but got this car now! Great gas millage and I hear they are very reliable and the parts for them are pretty cheap! Hope it all works out!

Re: Ride Gallery

I see you went with the remote solenoid. Good choice! Especially when it comes time to set the lifters!

Are you gonna put headers on it? That looks like a 750, it won't work real good without a better flowing exhaust.

The '60's series body style has always been one of my favorites. Have ya picked out a color yet? I'd like to see it when it's done!

I love that remote solenoid idea.Worked well on the Chevelle I had.Never had those HOT starter problems with it either.

got a set of headers getting those ceramic coated and planning on a 2 1/2 inch exhaust for the 750.

I'm leaning towards purple for the color.

You'll love the ceramic coating .. 30 seconds after turning off a hot engine you can hold the headers with your bare hands! Sounds like you have the exhaust all figured out. Do you know what muffler you'll run? Whatever it is, it'll sound great!

Purple. Great color! And some chrome wheels or polished alloys will really look great on it. Really set off the Purple!

What about the interior?

Is the bed solid metal or do you have the wood "feature"? I've seen some with the wood w/ chromed hold down strips: they're killer.

I envy you. I'd love to be building a truck like that right now, but racing is taking priority (and sucking the wallet empty.)

The interior is pretty much still original except I replaced the floorboards (rusted out) and moved the gas tank to the back inbetween the frame and filled in the filler neck hole

The bed is wood (plywood) and have some aluminum wheels (nothing fancy) w/60's on the front and 50's in the rear.

and don't think my wallet is full of cash either but it's worth being broke over .
