Re: Baylor Bears at Oklahoma Sooners

It was so unfortunate for the Baylor Bears to lose their talented sophomore QB for the season a couple weeks ago but they still have a chance to make a bowl game this year something they have never did since the Big 12 started many years ago.

Do I anticipate a big upset here being that the Sooners should have Heisman Trophy QB Bradford possibly back this week? No, but I have seen crazier things happen? On paper, this could be a Sooner blowout.

Bradford to make return vs. Baylor

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford will return from a sprained right shoulder and start for No. 19 Oklahoma on Saturday against Baylor in Norman.

Bradford missed the Sooners' last three games after spraining the AC joint in his throwing shoulder in a loss to BYU. Coach Bob Stoops said Friday that the quarterback has recovered enough to play in the team's Big 12 opener. "Sam has had a great week of practice and is ready to play," Stoops said in a statement. "We're obviously excited to have him back."

Bradford said earlier in the week that he hoped to play against the Bears (3-1) so he could get a game under his belt before next week's rivalry game against No. 2 Texas in Dallas. But he also said there was a chance he could still need surgery on his shoulder in the offseason, creating doubt over how his recovery was going.

The Sooners have all but fallen out of the national championship race since Bradford's injury, suffering their second loss of the season last Saturday night at Miami.

With Bradford back at QB for the Sooners. Do the Baylor Bears have any chance in this game especially since they lost their QB for the season?

Re: Baylor Bears at Oklahoma Sooners

Well, we won the game 33-7. But the score is not really what it seems. Our offense is a mess. We don't have any receivers who can consistently catch Sam's passes like last year. And our red zone offense still can't get the deal done like they should. I'm not sure how we expect to beat Texas kicking field goals instead of scoring touchdowns when we get the ball inside the 10 yard line.

And I used to think Kevin Wilson's play calling was too conservative down there, because he ran up the middle, ran up the middle, ran up the middle, and kicked a field goal, instead of using play action. Now I'm starting to think it's because there's nobody he can rely on to catch the football in the end zone.

Overall, I'm glad we won. We sure needed it. But there's a lot of work to do if we have any chance of beating Texas next week.
