Will we see a 70 win team in 2009?

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are off to a great start to the season. Both are trending towards 70 wins. Cleveland Caveliers are on pace to win 68 games. Can any of these teams break the magical 70-win plateau and join the 1996 Chicago Bulls as the only teams to win 70 or more games? Who has the best chance of doing so? Would the team(s) that can make 70 wins be considered one of the greatest team ever?

Re: Will we see a 70 win team in 2009?

I don't think any team can reach it this year.

Los Angeles is a west coast team.. the travel would be prohibitive and give them a loss or two that otherwise might not have.

Boston is a great team but does have 3 significant road swings. And being champion, they get everybody's best every game. That has to give them at least 2-3 losses whereby they just don't have it to fight back.

Cleveland has a great player but i harldy see them breaking 65 wins. They could win 60-62 however.

I doubt it, don't think LA or Boston will be able to pull that off, this season anyway.

No team will ever get it done unless they have a player named jordan in their team

I have a hard time believing any team will be able to pull that off now. Given the chain losses with the Celtics and the two games the Lakers lost on the road recently. Lets not forget Clevland losing to the Bulls (without Jordan lol) as well.

Nobody is going to win 70 games in a season with the balance we have around the league. 65-68 wins will be the best this year.

If any team were to win 70 games, it would be the Lakers or the Celtics. The Celtics haven't looked to great so they probably will not do it, and the Lakers are in a tough conference. So no, I don't think anyone will get 70 wins this year.
