NBA's First-Half MVP?

Who is it? The way I see it, this essentially comes down to four guys. In alphabetical order, they are:

KOBE BRYANT
First in the NBA in scoring with 35.5 points per game.
Averaging 5.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals this season.

ALLEN IVERSON
Second in the NBA in scoring with 33.6 points per game.
Also ranks eighth in the league with a 7.4 assists per game average.

LEBRON JAMES
Third in the NBA in scoring with 30.7 points per game.
Also averaging 7.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest.

STEVE NASH
First in the NBA with 11.1 assists per game.
Reigning MVP also averaging 19.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.

I think my nod would have to go to Iverson. He's the only one of the four who is in the Top 10 in two different statistical categories, and its especially impressive considering that those two are points and assists. Think of how many more total points he has a hand in, counting the scoring opportunities created by assists. Second would be Nash, followed by Kobe and Lebron.

I tend to look at the guys who not only put up good numbers, but also help to put their team in the best position to win a title. There are a lot of guys who put up big numbers on bad teams.

With that said, the four guys you mentioned have their respective teams in the playoff hunt.

I would give the nod to Nash as he is running the show for the Suns, who are having a great season. I do not believe that he will win the MVP award again this season though. He is not thought of as a dominating enough player to win this award two years in a row.

I like what Lebron is doing! He is putting up good numbers in 3 categories, and has his squad trailing only Detroit in the Eastern, Central Division.

We will have to see what they all do in the second half. Who is going to take their team to the next level, the NBA playoffs?

The MVP Award should without a doubt go to the Pistons as a team. They have been so good, and are just now slipping a bit.

Obviously they won't get it so I'd go with 1) Nash and then 2) Iverson. For AI to get it, the Sixers must win the division. I can't see them doing it with the Nets ready for takeoff.

You think so? I mean, just try to imagine what that team would be playing like without him. Granted, you take any of these guys off of their respective teams and none of those clubs make the playoffs, but Iverson is just so vital to Philly's success. I think you've got to give it to him regardless.
